Derby Enjoys a new toy!

Derby is starting to settle in, and decompress. She is finally pooping outside, and is beginning to consider this her home. We have started her on and all raw food diet. She had some issues at first, but is really enjoying the food now. Derby is a gentle dog, except when it comes to her deer toy...lol I hope to be able to update this page on a regular basis.

Some background on Derby... Derby was found on the streets of Albany New York. She was rescued by Dale at www.4theloveofdog.org. She had tape worm, over 30 ticks on her body, and she was homeless and abused. Her gentle trusting nature, is what I believe got her abused. I have seen these things in her that lead me to believe that she was abused even in the home she was in before she was stray. However she was found with an elastic around one of her nipples. This resulted in her needing to have some lumps removed from her breast and one of her nipples was removed completely. She is healing well from this. I believe the raw food diet has gone a long way to help this wound heal quickly. She rolls raid on her back for you to get belly rubs, and wants nothing more than to play in the snow, eat the snow, play with her toys, and be patted!

Derby eating her multi-mix patty and her chicken wings! (Only do this with raw chicken as cooked bones can hurt a dog)
